Post Strobe timing
Hi,I've just checked the timing on my car and have found the following-
At full advance it is one tooth over the 7th tooth.
At idle its is way over the 8 degree mark.(about 3 teeth).
As I see it,to get the idle timing correct,I will alter the full advance timing.
My car is fitted with a Luminition system.
Any ideas.

Go with setting full advance properly. if your on 8.5:1 pistons( standard 2cv engine) then a tooth beyond the 7th tooth may be OK
What the engine is doing at idle is really of no concern as long as it doesn't cut out ( its of no concern as it is unlikley to suffer pinking at idle).

if the timing is set for optamised idle then you head off down the motorway you could do serious damage to the pistons and bore if it were to suffer pinking.
