oboe,
when you laid it up, didn't you put some oil into the cylinders?
Until that's all gone, it will keep fouling the spark plugs, so take the plugs out and spin it over on the starter with the throttle wide open.
Put some old rags in the firing line to soak up any oil that's ejected from the plug holes.

Next. make sure that petrol is getting to the carb.
If it isn't, remove the fuel pipe at the carb, take a deep breath and blow down the filler neck until fuel emerges from the pipe.
Hook the pipe back onto the carb, fit your old plugs and try starting it.

If that doesn't work, clean the oil off those new plugs by heating them in a gas flame, then pop them back in and repeat as necessary until liftoff is achieved... ;)

when you laid it up did you also run it with the fuel pipe disconnected and use all the fuel up in the carb? unleaded doesn't like being left for a long time it will evapourate and leave a sediment in the carb possibly blocking the jets.

Have you got fresh fuel in the system? After 14 months the fuel will have " gone off ". Empty the tank and try fresh fuel if you havent already.

ok so still no run

had carb apart and clean out

new battery on

got a spark on both plugs , coil is ok

got 123 on , put points on and still didnt work

fuel is getting to the carb and is fresh new fuel

if we pour fuel in top of carb it runs then dies

not sure what to look for now

Idle jet missing. Try gravity feeding the carby to eliminate fuel pump etc.

Well, it's clearly a fuelling fault, so that's narrowed it down!

The most likely candidates I think are: fuel pump not supplying the carb (fairly possible); remove pipe from carb and point into a container while engine is cranked for a few seconds. Or, there's still a blocked jet in the carb. Or, you have a leaking inlet manifold - eg. the gaskets betwixt the carb and mani.
