I just drove home and Charlie wont go properly. If you press the loud pedal too much it just backfires and splutters. You can move but slowly and have to build up speed with not too much gas. Whats going on?

Have you got a fuel filter fitted? It could be a lot of things, but start by checking you have fuel getting to the carb, and that the jet's are not blocked. (waits for a better answer, which will be along shortly no doubt!)

Could be something as simple as the pipe from the air cleaner to the top of the carb falling off. The Ami did something very similar a few weeks back and that's all it was.

You have made the classic 2cvist mistake of giving it a cute name and thinking it has a personality.

Its a car, an inanimate piece of machinery that simply needs maintenance.

points and condenser would be my first step
:P

solved: either someone had done it as a joke or one of the ignition leads had fallen off!
