I've seen that done by Mr. Pembro,worked a treat.Just ran a weld down the outside of the king pin housing and bingo,when it cooled, it pulled it in and made it tighter.Cant remember if he cut or ground a groove first,but i'm sure someone will let us know

yeah, grind 2 grooves about 3-4mm deep and 5-6mm wide all the way round the kingpin housing, one nearer the top one nearer the bottom then put a *really* hot weld into it. |

If its any consolation John, just been out to see a local band play and on the return journey the brake pedal went to the floor. Had to drive twenty clicks with just the handbrake. Its Janice's car and she said "forgot to mention the brakes haven't been so good for a while". This is also our car for Salbris. Oh joy |

No Sam, I've put the new bushes in the hub carrier and put the new pin in the arm. I haven't yet put the top welch plug on, and when I turn the hub I can see the pin moving with it. It should stay still and the bushes in the hub should move around it. On the shopping list today is a welding helmet so's I can dig out my MIG welder tomorrow and have a go at shrinking the hole. If all else fails I have two spare arms in t' shed, but I'd rather keep the turned arms on it if I can. Cheers for advice, encouragement and so forth, I'll keep you posted. |
