LPGO your a bloody legend!

Well done, self build ignition for the 2cv, well done! I love these modern adoptions for the 2cv. As Russ once said, we really are taking the piss out of these cars by keeping them going for this long :D

Did you get my PM re: the Aisin amr300 superchargers for sale on ebay.com.au?

Here's an update.

Worked many evenings on this one, programming and reprogramming the microcontroller and now I managed to start an engine and rev it a little.

Made a holder for my inductive (VR) sensor at my flywheel. The hole in the engine house to set ignition is used to secure it and the hole in the flywheel
to set ignition is used as my triggerpoint.

The pictures tell it all

Also here 2 video's from my running engine on 1-2-spark it sounds better in the video then in reel time but hey it runs, revs a little and I can drive it a little, how many people can say that with their own ignition.........

Great Work, have you considered drilling the fly wheel, so that you its like a FORD EDIS 36-1.
I think more holes would need to reprogram but will give you much better timing,

My turbo car has a 36-1 pattern drilled in the flywheel (Megasquirt) but with this one I want to keep it as original as possible; no drilling milling is needed.
Just put it on and it works.

The problem for now is that there is a timer inside the microcontroller timing from one sensor passes to the next (then it knows rpm and can calculate advance) but when the sensor passes the timer gets off onetime more onetime less, that is what you here. Got to solve that problem, will take me another 6 month or so

At last, my homemade ignition is drivable!!!!!!!!!
Made a little video today reving the engine, monitoring it on my PC, made a little telemetric programm, I think its cool

Here's a video playing around with it a little

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd2c19Av ... ature=plcp

what do I have now:

Inductive sensor at 45 degrees (like visa has too)
7 point ignition curve
800 rpm 8 degrees advance
1400 rpm 15 degrees
2000 rpm 23 degrees
3000 rpm 30 degrees
4000 rpm 32 degrees
5000 rpm 33 degrees (just starts to pink when hot and going up a hill)
5750 rpm revlimiter

(between points liniear curve look at the advance in the video.)

vacuum advance with little box from visa. When it kicks in each revelution the advance is + .2 degrees with a maximum of 10 degrees after 50 revelutions.

So this is more or less the same as a visa ignitionbox does.

If anyone is interested please give me a post. when I'm satisfied with it I am going to sell them..........

For the moment I can only adjust things by reprogramming the microcontroller but in the future you can do it by laptop.......

what do you think guys, do you like it.

BTW. as you can see I made a little telemetric programm for my laptop....

Congrats Lpgo!

I will happily purchase one to promote the cause :)

I'm not satisfied yet..... Want to make sequential ignition I know that is important to you. Will do it over the existing pointbox; sand 1 side down so the points open once every 2 revelutions, so the engine knows which cilinder
needs to be fired........

Need to programm the microcontroller so that you can adjust by computer
revlimiter, (rpm and spark retard/no spark at all)
dwell,( 7 pieces long time at crank, short time at high rpm)
advance curve (7 pieces),
vacuum advance,

but it is almost troublefree now....

Thats what I wanted to hear :D

Almost there.

Can adjust the revlimiter and the dwell from my computer saving in the eeprom of the microcontroller which means the things which are changed are changed forever even when you put the ignition off. Turn back ignition on and the last changes are still in the microcontroller, the only thing is that the microcontroller is running out of programm-memory it will be a close finish.........

Driving is getting good now. above 800 rpm it is already better then original points, more torc in midrange no knocking at highspeed, revlimiter coming in
nicely....
Have some minor issues when starting the engine when cold; running on 1 cilinder but it is improving almost every day now............

This evening my computer crashed... Brought it back to live, so first thing I did was to backup all the programming-files about 1000 files!!!! I didn't before; must be my lucky day.........

Learned 1 thing today backup every day not once in a while.....

cheers.

Nice one LPGO!

I just stumbled across this... [url/http://freeems.org/]FreeEMS[/url], worth a look.
