Post subject:  Cold starting issues... when it's warm

Since it's been proper warmer weather over the last week, my car hasn't wanted to start when it's warm. Only happens first start of the day; I have to use full choke to start it on days like these, but I've never had to before? After it's sat on choke for 30 secs or so the car will happily do any distance and start first time everytime for the rest of the day... I know people say it's absolutely normal to start on full choke when cold, but well, it ain't cold really, and even if you rev it abit, it'll still die after a few seconds. I'm guessing I need to be looking at carb stuff here as it fires fine...? I know it isn't a major problemo but I'm just worried when it is actually cold outside, it won't even start with choke... Seems to have been getting worse everyday for the last week.

James,
first, check that all 4 carb nuts are present and not loose.

If that's all in order, I'd suggest dripping some petrol around the carb spacer block using a small oil can, while the engine is ticking over.

If the block has cracked, you'll hear the engine note change and maybe even hear the petrol being sucked in through the gap...
