Re: Ripple speedo problems
Hi Cinnamon.
Well, I'm struggling to write this as I'm choked with envy, but hey...
Ok, I know NOTHING about this 'gearbox' of yours, but - just from looking at your second pic - there appears to my eyes to be a 'pin' possibly held in by a circlip (it looks in the photos as tho' there's a ring with a 'gap' in it) in the raised body flange at the top of the pic.
Ie, at the very top of the pic there is a male threaded 'collar'. This collar sits in a raised flange which is part of the case moulding. Going through that raised case moulding - from the front of the photo towards the back - is what looks like a 'pin'; quite a
thick pin - possibly a hollow one - but, visualising it, it looks as tho' it will be engaging with this threaded part inside the raised flange. So, my thoughts are that you first need to remove that 'pin'...
Is the pin also visible from the back? If so, if there isn't a circlip holding it in place,
or if it doesn't unscrew (does it have any type of screwdriver/hex or whatever way to rotate it?), then I'd
guess it is
pressed into place. In fact, it might be a split sleeve type thingy - a hollow tube which is split along its length to give it a bit of squashiness so's it can be pressed in with an interference fit.
ALL THE ABOVE IS GUESSWORK!!! Basically, does that 'pin' have a circlip holding it in place? If yes, remove it (D'oh...), if not, try and press it out.
**cough** all at your own risk...
