timing was the KP and clutch part of a "service" did whoever it was do anything else? also what tyres did it have before if it were the poxy little 125 Firestones then youll notice a differance when you effectivley "up gear" the car with larger 135s

Or they haven't adjusted accelerator cable properly, so not getting full throttle opening.

Oddly enough, there seem to be garages/specialists who don't bother to carry out a test drive after they've carried out major work on a car. Judging by some of the 'restaurations' which have limped in here to be sorted, a test drive may not be on that checklist either, although 'sports' steering wheel, leather upholstery and fitted carpets do seem to feature prominently... ken knightley wrote: Or they haven't adjusted accelerator cable properly, so not getting full throttle opening.

Re: Tyres, Chassis, Oil and Tappets. (Argument thread)
Unlikely to be timing if they were "just" changing the clutch - much more likely they have either re-routed the accelerator cable or it needs tightening at the carb, by adjusting the position of the circlip on the black ribbed plastic cable end piece, as it sounds like the second choke isnt opening anymore.
Another thing to check is that some heavy footed grunt in work boots hasnt bent the pendulum accelerator - if so just bend the foot pedal bit up towards the dash slightly....

true - clutch so engine was out and not put back how it was.
(Was just thinking of the usual state of cars that have come forth from certain garagistes)

Some might disagree with that, so you're in the right place... Pony wrote: Forget all this talk about tappets jus get a Pony and get welding!!
