tyres. Toyo's. period

oil.. whatever 10w40 mainly though, pref fully synth.

VCs. 0.20mm

i woulnd't in a million years consider michelins on a everyday well used 2cv even if i had money pouring out of my arsehole :) why? because tyre's have advanced a hell of alot in the last 60 years and i found that even a decent set wouldnt keep my front end on the road sometimes... toyos... they have done a fair few thousand miles since fitting them in january and yet again, not a single complaint :) still around £30 each... so you could basically get 3 of these rubber rings with a pattern on them... for the same price as 1 of these rubber rings with a pattern on it.... use your head.

No, because they lose grip and you have a crash long before that. Whilst I've had plenty of practice, I'm not a fan of slithering off the road into ditches/parked cars/nuns etc. you can improve on the grip a Toyo* gives by simply removing it from the wheel and driving round without it. The result is much the same.

*Or any other poverty brand tyre. If they were that good why did none of the racers use them prior to being forced to?

tyres were free for a bit and uniroyals were available

then there were rules about tyres Michelin or Fs, then Fs became mexican rings of death and supply was sketchy so alternatives were sought. Toyos fit, prerform fairly well and there was a commitment from the company to make them available. Needing a couple of sets at £100 a corner doesn't sit too well with the clubs desire to make 2cv racing affordable and popular.

It doesn't, but the point I'm making is that in 2007-2009 Toyos were available but everybody chose £100 a corner michelins. I understand why you'd buy Toyos or similar, but being cheap doesn't make them better. A bicycle is cheaper than a Mercedes, but I know what I'd rather travel up the m1 with.
