I have Michelins, diesel oil and perfectly judged valve clearances; exactly in line with your recommendations.

However, whatever I do, with or without electronic ignition, a slightly bigger or smaller plug gap, a tweek on the valve clearance, a smidgin of advance or just a tad of retard, nitrogen filled Michelins, new genuine Citroen air filter and Purflux oil filter. 2CVs still seem to go best when I strap them to the back of a turbocharged Volvo running 1 bar of boost and a hot camshaft :o

SLC chassis. Citroen's are crap, otherwise there would be no 'SLC Chassis'.
Shocking the fan is - shocking, but patience is harder to do.

I heart my 2cv City Chassis

2cv fronted Acads = HOT

Russ - can you pop over the road and confiscate Hetty, please? Sam has just proven that he really doesn't deserve that van.

Remove the 2CV front first though, then push it off.

Yes.

Should it be done?

No.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, no matter how misguided. ;)

Fwiw, I like 2CVs, Amis and Meharis, just don't seem to fit in them very well.

As for 2CV-based vans, driving one of them can be a form of torture for me... :(

I just had a premonition imagining the first 2cvgb magazine cover under the Fieldhouse Editorship.

Perhaps you've not read the original post?SLC ORCitroen chassis, OR YOU ARE WRONG.

Nope. I read it, and I think you are wrong. You included a chassis that needed replacing at four years old, (Citroen) and that doesn't sound too fantastic to me. SLC one will outlast the car. So SLC yes Citroen no.
Jono wrote:
Citroen chassis only started being crap when they started making them out of crap. A bit like the rest of the car really.

And yet they did it. It's no use telling the British buying public that watched their chassis fizzle away in months that 'we used to make them better' or that 'you should live in Spain'. They beefed them up for PO, they should have done something for GB, no excuse.

Spanners once told me that as a child (yes, he was one once  ), he had a Saturday morning job washing 2CVs at The Birmingham 2CV Centre, and one came in for a service and it's first MOT....It failed on chassis rot!!! The chassis was replaced under Citroen warranty........It's third replacement chassis since new!!!! Yes, you've read correctly, the car had a new chassis every year of it's first three years :o
