To blast or not to blast? How to remove transit primer
What shall I do with these? The spare wheel cover and fuel tank cover have transit primer on, while the rear wings have a layer of surface rust but are solid. Small ripple panels aren't common so I want to protect and preserve them How do I remove the surface rust and transit primer?

Nitromors on the black stuff it leaves the phosphate or zinc underneath un touched, i also used a stainless steel pan scourer on the difficult stuff.
the rust on the grey if you had a receptacle big enough( flat panel- make wooden frame and line with thick polythene) you could try a sugar bath, disolve a tin of black treacle( black molasses) in a gallon of warm water and immerse the panel or soak a cloth in it and use it as a poultice.leave over nite.
or just wire brush in a grinder and some "snake oil" rust eater stuff
wont affect the paint, the rust just washes off, but you have to treat it fast once you clean it.

Cheers for the Nitromors recommendation. Does the sugar bath really work? That's really cool, how?

Before doing much with the spare wheel cover i recommend trying to fit it first, you might have to change the shape of the hinge part so it fits or at least fits without straining the hinge part on the van when the flap is shut. Mine was shit.

cheers for that, I hadn't thought to try it on! It'll be odd - I'm so used to seeing her without panels!
