 Sump
Quick question, can you buy just the oil sump on it's own? Can't say I've payed enough attention if it removes off the bottom of the engine( must do surely) I've got a bad feeling I've cracked mine when I parked head first into a raised curb :/ I'd hoped I'd just clouted the chassis but it's leaving patches of oil now :'(

 Re: Sump
That's not good, as there isn't a removable 'sump pan' on an A series engine. The crankcase halves are bolted together along the engine's centre line and any damage usually means replacing the cases... Have you had a look underneath yet? ken

 Re: Sump
As I feared! Damn it! No not had chance to duck under as it's dark and pissing with rain, just noticed an oil patch where I park on my mates driveway (sorry mate!!) when I heard the bang I'd hoped I'd just clipped the chassis, only one way to find out!

 Re: Sump
To crack the crankcase, you must have _really_ hit the chassis...

 Re: Sump
It's still quite possible to hit the sump on things, my cars have always had the sump plugs picking up damage and needing changing regularly.
