once this winter buggers off and the weather improves, i quite fancy a bit of carpeting in the 2cv, removeable of course. now im thinking red, to match the red seats im saving for, oir maybe black carpet has anyone done anything similar? i think it would look quite tidy with some nice carpet inside! |

what floor mats? i think they are better removable so that you can keep an eye on the floors for rust. I've got a set of carpets from ebay that fit in the same way as rubber floor mats, except they don't trap as much water underneath them. |

I know it's frowned upon by many but I like a bit of carpet.  This was proper car carpet but I can't remember where I got it from. It's not removable as I've put the seat runners on the top of it. There's every chance I'm shortening the life of my floors by fitting this but my Charleston is fairly water tight and it's usually garaged so I've not found any damp trapped underneath it yet and it's been in for a couple of years now. |

I like that. Depending on the intended use of the car those carpets would be nice. Those 2cv's that are garaged and mainly used as sunny weekend toys would certainly benefit, I'm not sure about the rest. |

If its any interest on one of my earlier 2cv s i fitted a type of firm foam (about 1inch thick) loosely over the whole floor and then laid carpet on top of that, all loose and easily removable. It worked a treat in terms of comfort and noise insulation.so i reccommend laying a decent foam first (very cheap to buy and very effective). I got the idea from one of the DSs i used to own. |

Back at the national in 2007 I bought a set of fitted black carpets with green trim from 2cv City. Bottom of this page: http://www.2cvcity.co.uk/2cv-parts/interior-trim They've been in my car ever since. Obviously mines an everyday car so these have been caked with mud, water, food... and they always come up like new with a good hoovering. Highly recommended. Of note, I also have the original rubber floor mats fitted too, underneath the carpet for soundproofing. |

I concur with Sam ..... I bought a set of grey carpets years ago [at one of the registers days held at Ferry Meadows,it must have been some time in the 1990's] ....I fitted them over my original rubber mats. They reduce noise a little,keep a bit more heat in,,they fit properly and they've been hard wearing. It's easy too to just roll the carpet forward [complete with rubber mat] .....drag it outa the car and hoover it on the drive. IMHO ....its worth leaving the rubber mats under the carpet,cos rubber does'nt hold water like a soggy mat will. T. |

James, carpets are great! They'll make the car quieter and feel a lot more cosy. At only £40 - coupled with the recommendation from Samfield above - I'd certainly suggest getting ready-tailored ones as opposed to trying and fitting ones yourself. But you MUST check under them regularly for dampness; if your car lets in water at all, carpets will only serve to trap that water way past when it should have dried off. Colour? I'd personally recommend black ones as contrast to your proposed red seats - but it has to be your choice. (Red seats, eh? Which ones?) |

thanks for the advice i was never thinking of fitting them permanently, as my car doest let in a bit of water but not much but still a tiny bit yes getting my seats re done in red leather vinyl stuff with black stitching and piping, when i have saved up enough money  DA i like the car noisey, it doesnt bother me, i prefer the noise to silence of a modern car.. the only thing i dont like is the windage noise if that makes sense |
