Plenty of info here http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html Looks like 20/50 is too thick for winter but OK for summer. What are you using? Fish oil? |

Interesting. So what's the difference between petrol and diesel oils? Why use diesel oil in an air-cooled classic engine? |

It's only my uneducated and ignorant opinion, but even if I was getting diesel spec oil for free, I wouldn't be using it in a petrol engine which I valued - any petrol engine! |

Haven't we been here before? Diesels more detergenty isn't it? Does it hurt anything? |

the way i look at it any oil is better than none to a point i use 15w40 which is what the haynes manual said so thats what i used,,, ive just aqquired some new oil as i had run out jcb 15w40 incidently whilst i was getting this stuff from my friend i got some jcb hp grease |

Although I've only started using it because other people do, which isn;t a valid reason to do anything. Plus you can't get 20W50 for £2.49 from Wilko anymore, it's all expensive. Racing people say use diesel oil, Adrian says use expensive hi tech stuff, I say use cheap stuff. |
