Does anybody know anyone in the South East (or not far from) with the experience and washers needed to correctly adjust the pinion on a pull-lever 6V starter? It's been professionally reconditioned recently but clearly not adjusted correctly.

I've already got details of what the adjustments should be. Unfortunately the vehicle owner is not in a position to be able to return the starter to the place which overhauled it.

(Apologies to those who've also seen this question on FB and the 2cvgb forum).

Is it the lever or the cable that's not adjusted up correctly? I'm presuming they've tried it from the lever, to rule the cable out?

The cable's fine, Adrian, part of the problem was the adjustment of the lever arm throw (now kind of sorted, but will need a strip down and re-clean of the contact faces). The problem I'm asking about that the gap between the front face of the starter pinion and the spigot face of the bearing bracket is way too large and preventing the pinion from engaging properly with the starter ring. Adjustment is made by using a washer of the correct thickness which will need to be fabricated to suit. An easy job if one has the tools and materials to hand.
