Post Larger Oil Filter & Oil Temp/Pressure Gauges
This is from a post i made years ago that was lost in the either, retrieved by google cache;)

My Oil Temp/Pressure setup.

Cheap gauges found @ http://crazysales.com.au $36:
Oil Temp gauge, 50-150ºc.

Oil Pressure gauge, 0-150psi.
http://crazysales.com.au/index.php?productID=363

Oil Sensor adaptor (Sandwich plate) $45:
Ebay Item

Brass Thread reducer, M20 to M16 $4.38, code RB2016 (electrical conduit fitting).

With this setup you can use any size oil filter, i am currently using Valvoline VO2, 1ltr capacity

Very easy to install, no mods required. Took me ages to find the little Thread reducer though!!! (You could easily modify this reducer to fit a larger filter without the Sensor Adaptor Plate)
Made me realise how high cool engine pressure is above 150psi if not careful.
I bought 'cheap' gauges to test setup and am very impressed, I may up grade in the future, mainly for asthetics, aviation gauges perhaps...
With large VO2 filter Kermit sits happily around 70-75ºc normal running, 80-85ºc flatout on freeway.

Cheers
Harley

Post Re: Larger Oil Filter
I've read that a larger capacity filter can reduce the working oil temp - is that what you are saying?

Do you have any before and after figures?

Thanks.

Correct, I initially made this mod to fit Oil pressure and Oil temp gauges using a sandwich plate, because the 2cv has an odd sized oil filter thread another bonus is now i can fit different capacity filters which aid in cooling.

I don't have any before figures as I fit the larger filter the same time I fit the gauges... :?

Hi Harley - any chance of some pictures to show the place from where the take-off for the oil temp & pressure was taken?
Thanks ... Geoff.
