so, more just out of interest, and if we have more floods (unlikely!) but how high could you raise a standard 2cv? im about lever with the top of the hub caps at the back, how much higher could i go if i really had too??

No point worritin about the back matey .....the front end is the "business end".
Make sure the rubber cover is on your points box .....and a good thick,liberal coating of waxoyle will keep most water out of your points box [and off'n your coil if you do it right. ...... leastways .... it allus has done on my off road motorcycles .....and I've been through worse water on them than I'd ever dream of in in my 2CV..... ] ....

its more a question of how high could i go at the front before it causes problems but thanks for the advice i dont like going through puddles etc, but im quite up for going on a bit of muddy fields.com but want to have the car as high as safe to be able to do this properly

If you hit a deep puddle fast enough ... .... You'll end up gently "bobbing" through it .....with the engine screaming ......before doing a 0-60 time which you'd never thought possible.... it does'nt do your front tyres any favours either .....
Dont ask me how I know this ....

2WD 2cv, mud not water mud to the top of the wheels, as long as your sensible you'll be fine.

I dont think it has a welded diff as it turns fairly easily, tractor tyres make a massive difference, it meant that rick in his ripple had no trouble following us 4x4s around Langdale (rick had a diff lock though I think)

Rick's old 'ripple bonnet' did have a diff lock fitted, as I was with him, testing both the diff lock and the 'ram raid' chassis...

As high as you want to. It depends how much work you want to do. Wind the tie rods in as far as they go to make it higher. It will go up about 4" from standard I think.

It seems you're more interested in driving through water though. Keep points on as they are highly unlikely to get damaged if wet, although they might need drying out. Be careful of submerging the fan, as the blades will break off. It might pay to fit your muff prior to fording to keep the water out.

If your planing on going deep put a vacuum pipe type snorkel on it ( It makes you look ard core too )
