I’m great believer of sharing the knowledge, how can this be done so the next generation can learn. Steve Hill started this idea I think, saw it at the world meeting. Haynes manual seems to be the bible for enthusiast but may lack many informations. What if a new category maybe sub category in the tech section is created for a new 2cv school. Had a PM after uploading new photos in the Odin post, if I would be interested in making a detailed post about rebuilding a steering rack similar to the king pin tool post. It is very time consuming to document each job but is happy to get it going. If it goes ahead, many subjects may not need constant debating again and again.
Please comment on this topic good or bad.

Maybe also a "Top Tips" thread/section, to include the little tricks and techniques that experienced people use to make fiddly jobs run just that little bit more smoothly?

This is an excellent idea from Viking as long as he writes them all. If many people write them it will end in tears.

I can remember when the 2CVGB Handbook was written. With so many people contributing and editing it, it led to massive conflicts of opinion.

I also like the idea of sharing tips. There are so many ways of keeping cars in good shape and most of them don't come from Haynes.

Ya I did think of that. Have that problem when writing how to prepare a raid car. Too many ''disputes'', but people can adopt their own way. The idea is to show photos and some text including tricks of the trade.

Isn't the idea of sharing tips behind having an internet forum?

If only Citroen had had the foresight to publish illustrated workshop manuals back in the day............

Your piece on king pin replacement is probably the best I have ever seen on any web site or manual. However it must have taken you an age to produce, having the foresight to take the photos while doing the job. Not sure I ever have that sort of time available.

That would be wonderful, Viking. I agree with 602 - the king pin thread is a superb example and will be invaluable for me in the not too distant future.

Once a helpful thread like that is posted, I also don't see any problem with others adding their tips to subsequent posts "if this bit is hard to remove, you can try..." type stuff. It's all good reading and all helpful.

I have the camera ready so instead of grabbing a tool, I'll take a couple of photos in between. Getting good photos takes time + uploading and text is time consuming too but I don't mind as long as people enjoy it and can make some good use of it.

it would be great to have reference material in one place like that, perhaps people can be nominated to/or put there hand up to right the articles. I know Ken would have some pearlers to contribute. I guess still one person needs to moderate it.

THis is a great forum one of the few i use ever (I'm not on facebook;) It is frustrating when great threads get lost in ppl 'socialising' (for want of a better word) it is already hard enough going through tonnes of posts as it is.

It is something i luv about the Snail forum there is more simplified posts about the topics and not to much OT.

I liked what you had on the old Aussie 2cv forum, but we didn't seem to have the head count down here to really appreciate it.
