Has anybody used a Citroen GS Tachometer (Round Analogue) on an A Series.
Can you share the wiring information.?

Not too sure of this, but...would a four cylinder rev-counter work on a two cylinder engine and be accurate? Unless the car in question has a GS engine, then my question is redundant

Neil had one converted at cost IIRC and used it in his Dyane ok. I bought one form eBay for a Harley for the Ami (602cc) and that works fine. All depends what you want it for or to do.

Need the connections, What goes where?

One to an ignition live, one to the coil's switched earth, one to the light switch for illumination, IIRC.

A G tacho needs to be tickled inside to work, else it'll read wrongly. I _think_ it's a resister swap, but... <shrug>

Yes, its a resister swap, but i cant remember if its value is 200% of original or 50% of original. Ive also heard various rumours that it doesnt actually work acurately when its done either...

I had one, years back, in my first 2cv. Worked fine.

The supplier who I got it from is still in business, but I don't think they supply converted G tachos any more - they used to be a catalogue item. Perhaps, Andy, you could ask your employer tomorrow if he remembers what he did with them...? <g>

Let's put it this way - 800rpm was a nice even idle speed, and it was running out of power north of 5500-6000.

I guess I can go really anal here and put my penny worth in.

If you have a Sad-Naff(sorry,I do), they are accurate(something to do with trigonometry ...I believe). The gear-ratio of 4th gives something like 13mph per 1000rpm. At 65mph, you should be reading 5000rpm or there abouts. So with a sad-naff reading of 65mph, see if the rev-counter tallies, if it does, then the other ratios(gears) should match, giving accurate readings through the range......hopefully
