does anyone have any dimensions for the engine, as in the mounts, i am going to attempy, and probably fail at building a cradle for the new engine ive potentionally found, which has a box, and i want to know also if there are any mounts on the box or does it hang of the back of the engine?
thanks

 Re: dimensions
Yes, there are 2 bolts on the back of the gearbox which fit onto the mount which is fitted to the front axle tube. Haven't you looked closely at the one on your car?

 Re: dimensions
Why don't you just measure the new engine? I'm not sure I understand what this cradle is for, but if you're working on the engine I'd split it from the box on removal, otherwise it's quite heavy. Then make an engine stand that picked up on the bellhousing studs.

 Re: dimensions
You don't need a cradle. I've stripped and rebuilt more engines than I can count - probably, ooh, five or six - and I've never bothered with one.

 Re: dimensions
a cheapo B&D workbench is sufficient
my shed now has a engine building bench which is just a wooden bench with a 3mm steel covering on the top
if you get in to the guts the cases have to split and a conventional engine stand isnt that good
if its just for storage they are quite stable and happily sit on the floor as is
