Post Rear end problems. Sensible advice sought.
Just thought I'd have a nice afternoon tidying up the snail's rear end prior to the onset of winter... and had a bit of a shock:

Worse still, that whole back seam is crunchy, and is just about detached:

The rest of the boot well is not bad at all, apart from a couple of little patches as shown here:

My rear sweeps are fine (replaced a year or so back) and everything else around the back end is in good nick. So, given this set of circumstances, what would you do? I don't want to spend a fortune, but I'd like to nip the problem in the bud.

Cheers.

I would change the boot floor and back panel. Might be possible to avoid redoing the rear sweeps depending how they were fitted last time.

Russells right. Boot floor is not an expensive panel. Will make the back end very tidy and water tight.

It's only metal; weld it up. I'm fairly sure I have a new genuine lamp panel somewhere, and a pattern boot floor.

was it one of those moments where you havent looked in the boot for about 4 months? i did that after painting the por 15 in there, then i realised the boot was leaking, so every time it rained there would be a puddle in the boot, so i went over the por15 with red oxide.
sorry for the moment of irelevantness,

Yes it was a bit of a moment like that. I've been looking forward to a nice sunny Sunday for a while so that I could just potter around the snail. There was me saying to myself "I'll just get those bumpers off and tidy them up... oh and while I'm at it I'll have a quick look at that crunchy bit I noticed under the rear seam and... DOH!

If you find them, please let me know. It'll be good to get this sorted out before the weather turns horrid.
Cheers.
