Hi guys and girls, I need to fit a rubber to my vent flap, it currently doesn't have one and I'm sick of the ductape, two questions:- is it better to use the more expensive rubber or the tempting cheaper pattern?

Also, I've never fitted one, is it easy or awkward? Pics could be handy!

How long will it take? I've left it a bit late but I don't want the heavens to open while I'm doing it!

Ok, that's three questions...

<lightly baffled>
So, umm, how's it attached to the car?

The rubber is a single-piece thing, goes all the way around the flap. The chrome strip then goes through the (longer) top lip, and the studs hold the lot on. The rubber's the hinge.

It just attaches to the flap itself via a little lip - it's a while since I did one, but IIRC you need to slide both top and bottom in simultaneously from one end, then slide the whole lot all the way down, then tuck the ends in.

You've got to get the upper dash, heater ducts & wiper motor out to fit the flap.

Yea I didn't explain that very well, the top is there but the bottom isn't, just a big gap, didn't realise it was the hinge though! Thanks.

I bought the ready crimped one in the right colour.

Pointer for ecas - maybe an option of crimping it for us and charge a bit extra? cos I'd much have prefered stainless but didnt want to be crimping incase i damaged it :?
