 Engine getting louder and stalling
Maybe its my imagination and the heat but my daughters 2cv6 is beginning to sound louder under acceleration, I have checked and apart from the ever present small blow from on of the exaust joints there seems nothing amiss. When idling it seems ok but under acceleration there seems to be getting a harsh rattle and the engine is now more prone to stalling although that may be the heat, any ideas. I've been ofer the engine, chassis, exhaust system and can find nothing loose etc
cheers
Colin

Is the air-filter secure? Mine sounded like a V8 when the air filter plastic popped off on the dual carriageway.

Re: Engine getting louder and stalling
Thanks for the replies, the car has now developed another fault, the throttle sticks slightly on overrun, i've greased and oiled the throttle cable and checked both ends and cannot find anything wrong but both my daughter and wife have experienced it, any ideas
cheers

Re: Engine getting louder and stalling
James beat me to it there, however long with the long spring connected to the fan housing there's springs on the butterflies which can break and cause this sort of problem.I had good write up on this but can't locate it,once I do I will copy the link.

Colin, regardless of the condition of the original spring(s) on a carburettor, this modification will usually solve any problem with a sticky throttle... Throttle spring relocation by slcchassis, on Flickr
