In rebuilding the engine is necessary/advisable to replace the 2 seals. The 2 taken off look fine?

Any advise from one of our technical guru's?

Cheers

If its that far apart, replace them. Recycling oil seals is a mug's game IMHO

drag your finger nail accross the surface it should be rubbery and soft

most likley to be slighty glazed from the heat and oil

as its a pain to do when its all back together and in the car just do them now and save the hasstle and the "Doh!" moment when you fire it up (usually just seconds after the smug "see, i can do engines" feeling)

I'm about to rebuild my engine and would think it's folly not to replace them, especially when a full kit can be had for around £25
