Post Fixing up front Air-vent Flap
Hi Friends,

I have a problem with both 2cv's. The front air-vent flap has come off. On one, the flap is ok but rubber is damaged, which finally rendered it unfit for use, and on the other one, rust had destroyed it. (I have re fabricated the flap but fitting is pending.)

How can I fix in a new rubber gasket, and how could I fix it to the body?

Thanks a lot, and best regards,

Steve

Hi Steven,
All the parts are available from UK 2cv suppliers if having them sent by international post is an option, you can find them listed here(and probably from other suppliers too)
http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/body-fitt ... 7_124.html

Sorry, but I've not got any ideas for mending it without new parts.

Hi Steven, as Joolz says, it's hard to suggest repair methods without seeing the broken parts, can you post a photo? probably the best, and longest lasting repair will be to use a new part, although I have no idea how much it'd cost to send out to you?

Hi,

Sorry I cannot send you a photograph at present, since I am in Bangalore, but just one question, according to the parts list of ECAS, there is a listed "Rubber seal/hinge only for vent flap". For lack of an available picture on ECAS, I couldn't figure - Is this a separate part which can be fixed to an existing flap?

Thanks, and best regards,

Steve

Hi Steven,

Yes, the rubber seal/hinge is a seperate item & can be replaced as such. It's a time consuming job, or at least it is for me - but it's not too bad with some time & patience!

Hi friends,

Glad to inform you that I have received the flap gasket from ECAS 3 days back. Thanks for all the help!

Any special tips on how to fix it up, please?

Regards,

Steve

Erm! depends on how good your flap is? is it off the car? shouldn't be to difficult to fit a new gasket to an old flap if things are not to manky.... I've took the 'gasket' off a couple of complete new ones just so I could paint them!

It takes patience and lube to get it on! (just like a lot of things!()

Hi Imothepixie,

I have the flap removed, and the old gasket taken out.

So..will lube do the trick, apply some grease to the rubber gasket and start inserting into the slat...? (just like a lot of things?!)
