My spare engine has around 5mm of play somewhere in it. If I turn the flywheel, there's a noticeable clunk as (presumably) the timing gears mesh. Is this normal or is it a scrap engine? |

There cant be any play at the cam gear as its split and has spring tension to eliminate any lash more likley to be the crank sometimes something gives a slight click when you turn it backwards, im guessing its the oil pump and the relief valve. sean |
