Post Engine keeps on running!
Hi - got a bit of a strange one.

I've just put the blue car back together after it's chassis change. Connected everything up as per normal and fired it up. Runs fine and all electrics work apart from the fact that when you turn off the ignintion the engine keeps on running :? I've even removed the wires from the back of the ignintion barrel but this doesn't stop it either! I have to stall it or physically remove a coil connector to get it to conk out.

Before I set upon it with a meter and start checking the loom I was wondering if this could be caused by anything specific, or any tips on where to start looking.

Thanks!
Will

Will,
has it got a loom with dim-dip?
If so, the diode could have failed and needs to be removed.
It's the black plastic item tie wrapped to the flasher unit.

Or, does it have a Visa type alternator, with built-in regulator?
If one of those is wired up as if it was a 'normal' 2CV type, they can cause this problem.

Hi Ken

Thanks for the info. It does have the dim-dip so I will check this out. It also has a replacement alternator so I will check to see if it has a built-in reg.

Sorted! The alternator seems to have a built-in regulator and on disconnecting the original one - problem solved :D

Thanks!
