Has anyone here got the hatchback conversion on their Deuche? If so have you had any hassle with the extra wear and tear on the hinge, or is it a non-existent problem?

Had a conversion fitted to the last hood without any problems and it would be fitted to current hood, if I could get it to fit

The Flexion of the hood doesn't wear it out quicker then?.....

It doesn't tend to wear the material - instead, it pulls it out of the window seal.

yep, in my opinion thats exactly what used to happen on my 86 Charleston, the fabric used to pull away from the top edge of the rear window seal. it was a factory hatchback frame too, i always wanted a Chilean or Argentine hatch really anyway, even back in 1994. I remember seeing the photos of above mentioned hatch in a 2cv club flyer back in 1978, at my local citroen agent, Cutmill Garage in Bosham (near Chichester, W.Sx) when they had about 4 Bijous parked out in the back yard.

I am not surprised by that problem with the fabric...I guess it is a case of pros versus cons...

My Charleston was fitted with one when I bought it and if the state of the roof at the top corners of the rear window was anything to go by, it did the roof no good at all.

Not as rare as once thought, a lot have resurfaced over the last 5yrs, they are almost too common, now.

All that movement,flexing of the roof can't be good..... Maybe one could apply some kind of hood conditioner.....? May sound strange, but I have a '28 model A ford (for my sins) and you can get a hood conditioner for that. Apparently it keeps it from cracking and keeps it nice and shiny......god knows what is in it?

PS- I suppose it makes sense that bijous are still around, fibre body ain't going to rust like a late model Acadiane is it.....
