Post The 2cv camper kit
Ever since I have seen this I have been obsessed by the idea. I goto a lot of festival things where they offer a ticket for campers. Fancy turning up in the 2cv and saying: yes it is a camper!

Is it a tricky job? Is the silly box on the back needed? Just wondered if anyone has tried it on here. It seems like fun to me, and as the 2cv has got its rolly roof it would be like being in a comfortable tent that you don't need to pitch!

It'll be cold!

Tents have inner and outer sections for insulation

and there's not much space for storage of clothes and cooking equipment etc if your bed is in the car

It's quite feasible, how many people do you want to sleep? two is possible. To do it on the simple, build a frame up that's roughly the same level as your front seat bases, buy some matress foam and when it's time to sleep, turn the front seats round so your feet are on them, Boot box would be ideal, as would a hatchback kit.

I've done it in my [old/ex] Dyane years ago .....I cut a length of Marine Ply to a suitable length and removed all but the drivers seat and used wooden blocks to make it level [it was a little cramped, but I'm 5'11" btw] ....all my "gear" was stored in a pile behind the drivers seat .....I dunno about my [present] 2CV though......and advancing years ...blah-blah-moan-moan

I'm 5'11" so it does indeed sound possible. I think a few bits from a camping shop should help. One thing the old 2cv has going for it is removing the seats. I tried to sleep in a Fiesta once and there is absolutely no room in one of those!

I saw the kit on ebay a little while back and that one included a sort of bit hanging from the roof and curtains! I expect that would make it much warmer.

Only a while ago, wasn't it said on this very forum, that all you really needed was a very very good sleeping bag?
