Alright, you may have read I have a tiny split in a nearly new gaiter on Jeremy which leaks alot of grease. was wondering if i have to change it? can i just remove the clip and fill with grease then get creative with glue or a hot soldering iron? seems a shame to waste a nearly new gaiter for a 2mm split. ideas or opinions please! |

Bicycle puncture repair kit? Try the glue but you'll have to clean all the grease out of the split first. |

Tim, I don't know how easy it is to fit a new gaiter on an Ami Super driveshaft, but if a 'repaired' gaiter fails on a long trip and wrecks the 2cv joint, wouldn't that be false economy? ![]() ken. |

as its already been greased Id go with needle and thread had one for 3 years that had been stitched but the cost of new? and ami or not when the hub nuts off the outer 2cv joint can be persuaded out of the hub to then split the shaft Sean |

I agree with Ken and Sean. Not worth repairing for what a new gaiter costs. |

Rubber solution glue does work - I have performed this bodge, but agreed a new one is better in the long term. |

thought so.. best dig out a haynes and start learning the art of drive shafts... £20odd now is better than trying to get another shaft in the future. ![]() |
