You need this tool to do it without removing the inner wing. I guess its possible but a pain. When you have the inner wing on the floor, modify it so next time you can unscrew the section in front on the valve cover to gain access. Attachment: Billede16.jpg |

Attachment: Billede16.jpg Thanks Viking - I can't even imagine how i'd use those tools - even if i had them - i'll take the wings off, i guess the more often i do it the quicker i will get.....i have seen whole front off in one go but always think that it would be bending everywhere.... cheers |

On mine it's actually a challenge to get the rocker boxes off without taking the wings off, and I've certainly never done it without dropping the oil everywhere. I am thinking of making some plates which bolt over a hole I'll cut into the inners next time I change the engine. If you can find a half decent set of ami inner wings I'll modify them for you to suit. |

Yeah, I'm very suprised to hear that, I'd assumed they were all the same! |

To start with I thought it might have been off a really early model - but IIRC the early ones didn't have sliding rear window????? Matt???? where are you??? cheers now |

Join the club. I found out the same way when I wanted to move over the rotten window seals from scrap Ami 6 to our daily runner (Ami 6 1967). The Ami 6 before 1968 is not the same as after. The Ami 6 from 1968 onwards and Ami 8 do share the same doors. The clues are engine design, speedo pedal, alu trim around the doors Attachment: P6270008.JPG Attachment: P6260009.JPG |

The captive nuts(for the aluminium frame) are set alot higher on this replacement, and the bare metal gutter is a good 30mm deep. I've stripped the FRONT door sills on mine and they are probably only 20mm. Haven't actually stripped the existing rear door on mine to line up the replacement yet - but i'm 90% certain that my existing black nylon 'cover' will fall down into this new door and besides - the glass will not fit as the frame is attached will be too high. Jerome's brilliant site may hold the answer - they did chop and change the doors a bit - there was that mid period when they had the Axo lights & steel roof but with Ali door frames???? overlaps!!!! cheers now Will |
