How do I know if I've got a galvanised chassis?
Hi all
How to I identify if my 2cv has a galvanised chassis?
Thanks.

It'll be silver in colour, rather than rusty. The construction methods are also quite different, but the colour's easier to explain.

Well it isn't rusty, but I wouldn't call it silver either

Pull back the floor mat, the section in the middle of the floor is the top of the chassis. If it's silvery grey and unpainted then it's probably galvanised, if it's painted either black, very dark brown or body coloured then it's probably not.

Re: How do I know if I've got a galvanised chassis?
Being a bit sad, this started me wondering. I've got two knackered original chassis here, one came from an E reg white special and the top surface has a dark grey stone chip finish. The other is from a D reg white special and has the top surface painted white. I'm pretty sure that both are as they left the factory, what's the reason for the difference, would the D reg have been Paris built?

Sounds feasable Jools
some had the PU stone chip applied as a sound deadening but never paid much attention to the old chassis as they were swept up from the floor and shovelled into the wheely bin
