Aye!

I think our enthusiasm for the charms of the X got us carried away!
Toyos are very respectable. Give 'em a go!

I reckon you could do worse than just stick a pair of new mich 125/135s on the front and lob some cheapo toyo ones on the back? i had toyos or mabors (i can't remember) on my 2cv for a whikle, they lasted ok, and gripped ok, but after i went to 135 michs the difference was unreal.

You need the grippiest ones on the back.... Whichever they are, probably the Michie 135s!

Grip on the front, the whole theory behind getting the best tyres on the back is all down to safety blah blah blah. A 2cv doesnt have the power or the weight to lose grip on the back without provocation, you have to be trying, i always feel because the front wheels do all the work that's where i want the grip to be.

No front grip= understeer= crash. :(

Less rear grip = oversteer= fun. :D

i have lots of tread on my 145 M&S rear tyres but at 40psi i can still put it sideways big time in the wet leaving the front dragging the car around on the 135 toyos. I find they are good but need abit of scrubbing in before they grip like shit to a blanket!

Not keen on Mich's .. the side walls tend to give in to much.. we have 135 mabors on both our 2cv's and they've been great.. even when Ad tried to demolish the extra high kerbs by driving over a bollard or 2!

I'm sceptical about that as a general rule at the best of times - at least, for drivers with the vaguest clue - but on an A-series, it's just completely and utterly wrong.

I had the old Dyane on Mich 145s up front and _ancient_ hard 125s on the back. Even with that level of front-bias, it was utterly neutral even when you were LOBBING it about - my old man was following me one day, him in a CX, me in the Dyane - and he swore blind I'd got a rear wheel airborne on a roundabout. Even with utter provocation on convoy-swerveys, the back end wouldn't come loose.

I'm Michs any and every time. Firestone 145s were a good budget alternative when you could get 'em, but I wouldn't go for Firestone 125s - Firestones have always seemed about 10-15mm narrower than Michs in terms of grip, if you know what I mean.

Cost? Yes, they're steeper - but how many miles do they last? The cost-per-mile is _tiny_ compared to the rest of the costs of running a 2cv.

2cv's do tend to understeer greatly anyway, Lefebvre the chap behind the design of the chassis/suspension wanted that as a characteristic of the handling(it's safer than oversteer).

I've never had one that understeers, with exception of my yellow 2cv, which after putting good tyres and decent lip shocks on, doesnt anyway. The only A series I ever had that pushed on was my Ami8.

I run Vredestein 155x15 on the 4x4 and on road they give a load of grip. With disks all round stopping is pretty impressive. I've had some of them for around 10 years now and they still have plenty of tread left in them and that for tyres that have done getting on for 100,000 miles.

I have another set with spikes in and these are great fun on the snow and ice but can spark when throwing the 4x4 round corners on tarmac/concrete roads.

I believe ECAS does the normal Vredestein ones...
