Post subject:  Maintaining cheese-grater wiper motor & linkages

Hi

my wiper motor is currently exposed and whilst this is the case it has occurred to me i should maintain it - if indeed this is necessary???

do i grease the linkages?
squirt stuff here, squirt stuff there?

they work fine, but i thought i'd take the opportunity whilst the dash is off
and they are being used lots at the moment...

thanks and Joyeux Noel!!
Will

p.s. - really will make more effort in 2010 to attend some rallies etc.

My linkages were quite stiff when I first got the car so I took the lot out, cleaned it up and greased any joints and it was fine. So I'd say "definately yes"

Take it apart. There's a gearbox on the front of the actual motor. Clean the old earwax out, and fill with fresh grease. You'll be amazed at the difference!

There was an article in the 2cvgb mag a couple of months ago, regarding servicing the older type of wiper motor.
Serviced the one on the Dyane and a spare, quite straight forward.
Could scan a copy and E mail if you like.
