Hi all,

Top of airbox has had it's day as lugs worn off & does not sit in place.

Quite happy to have it taped down but I am curious...

Do people ever replace the airbox housing with K&N filters or something?

Does it mess up performance.?

Curious...otherwise I will source new cover from a breakers yard.

Regards

CBI ;)

Take a look at this replacement for the original.

You are probably thinking about this:

or this:

Expert opinion seems to be that they don't make an otherwise standard 2CV any faster, they just make more noise.

or you could fix it like I was shown once (cheers Ken). ;)
Drill a hole through the lid in the centre, same in the bottom and put some threaded bar with a nut and washer either side through the bottom hole then put the lid on and put a washer and nut on to hold the lid down.

I just have three self tapping screws holding my air filter top in place(till I can get a new one).

I'm using these (look a like) K&N airfilters for several years now
Image
My engine is a Visa 652 and then a original airbox is to small the motor doesn't have it's original power. The original visa airbox is to big and has lots of gadgets wich I don't want, These K&N airfilters are fine and they give maximum power.

By the way the one on the picture is a motor with LPG injection. 602cc. So its the original 2cv engine and its runs very fine with this airfilter.

You can see a little video with the airfilter here.

When you use thes filters you must make a connection in the filter for the hose coming from the oilfillcap (vacuum for the engine to keep the oil inside).

And yes they make more noise/great sound just what you like to hear, its the same sound like when you pick the original airfilter out of the airbox.
