That's what I thought. Thanks Jonathan.
Since the Harley coil includes the HT leads, the price difference isn't that great, and becomes an even more attractive (ie economical) solution if it lasts longer and is more reliable than the standard coil. Suddenly, the supposed "bullshit" doesn't seem so, err, bullshitty.

Yes, i love Ken's idea of spraying under the bonnet with a plant mister

i didn't drive the Ami for a couple of days, until i was late for work this morning. wasn't firing for love nor money (and it always fires) as it's been very damp near. didn't have time to mess about so just sprayed Holt's wet start into the carb and it fired straight away.

now , someone's gonna tell me that's a bad thing to do....

Calm down, everybody is entitled to an opinion, if you don't agree with that opinion then there are better ways of explaining that than declaring it 'bullshit'.

Willami,
can't see any problem, especially if it gets you to work (or to the church) on time. :)

Also gives some breathing space until there's time to check things over properly?

Well wife's 1990 2cv6 is a bitch to start in cold and damp conditions. Easy to flood the carbi after less that 30 sec ( + spark plugs). Pulled out the DG electronic ignition and fitted Valeo points/condenser set and Voila wife is happy. No more problems starting every morning. Still running standard black coil, leads, plugs etc. Checked valves all good at 0.20 mm (and NOT 0.25 on the exhaust) No worries
