Post Black or brown coil
I have a 123/EVO ignition module. http://www.123ignition.nl/product/evo.html
Have a new black coil and silicone sprakplug-cables.

But I'm curious about buying a brown VISA-coil. Anyone here tried both?
Is there any advantages in using the Brown one? Better response? Less fuel?
In other words, is it worth spending 50 euros on it?!

Ah, and when I'm at it, what about the quality of the electronic ignition that Mehari-2cv club cassis make? Is it as good as the rest? 123 and DGnition?? It certainly is cheaper.....

From what I can gather, mixing 602 & 652 coils is a complete no-no as the two ignition systems are different. The 2 coils have a different resistance I think meaning that whilst it'll work for a while it won't last long

Thats true, but the 123/EVO is designed for the black coil aswell for the brown coil.

I don't know if the brown coil does anything for fuel consumption or so.
Mayby you can ask on the 123-forum.

About the Cassis-ignition. My girlfriend has it on her 2cv and it runs good with it. For as far as i know is it similar to a standard 123 ignition, only with a different cover.
Installing is the same procedure as any onther 123/DG/W-ignition there is.

I have 123/EVO ignition with a yellow coil - the Harley type sold by ECAS. Its fully compatible with 123, having the same resistance as the original Ducelier. Comes complete with THE BEST spark plug leads I've seen for a 2CV. They are not too long (like the originals) so they don't snake along the headlight bar and inner mudguards looking for a place to short out. Rather they just form a loop straight to the spark plug. If you have metal cooling shrouds, you may need the rubber plugs to to get a more airtight fit between the shroud and the lead.

On the subject of the yellow coil It does work wonders, but the HTs supplied with it were completely unremovable from the plugs.

It took a pair of mole grips to get them off in the end (by which point the yellow HTs were beyond repair).

I'm currently using a yellow coil with standard HTs, which I suspect may be shorting out at high revs and full throttle. Once my impending exams are out of the way I shall have a play with things to try and work out what is going wrong.

Thanks for the words. I guess it's not any obvious improvements by switching to a brown one, so I'll just save my money until I hear something else;)

As Tom says, the 123\EVO is design to work with both.

I guess I can ask on a 123-forum... Maybe some other time ;)

Yes, the yellow coil is interesting. But since ECAS has never ever answered any of my emails, I don't order anything from them. Never returning emails is a bad sign in my book.

Is the yellow coil they sell an Accel coil? http://www.accel-ignition.com

Some standard black coils do play up when fitting electronic ignition.
The Visa coil (brown) will not do that and is a very good coil.
Happy to supply if Roy is not coming back to you

Thanks alot Viking. But thing is, I know a dude going to France in a couple of days, and he is going to visit Cassis Club. So I visited the website and thought; Hmm....what can I ask him to buy for me, that is small and light enough so he might bother! ;)
And that Cassis-ignition is cheap for just 77 euro, if he get it for Club-price....

Regarding my ECAS-comment, I have not sendt them any email lately. It was during summer -08 I wanted to get in touch with them, but had no luck with that, even after many emails, so ended up buying from a company in Germany in stead... So things might have improved now for what I know.

I actually got in contact with 2CV-City, I think it was called? They answered email the same day :) ....but told me they didnt send parts to Norway. Fair enough, but nice with a quick and kind reply.
