First and easiest thing to do is check or perhaps charge the battery I would have thought. It may have enough cahrge to turn the engine but the voltage can drop and you don't get a good spark. If the battery responds to an overnight charge then perhaps a problem with the alternator or regulator.
Then move on to the starter motor.

Basically what Vosper said, plus points may be worth checking, plug gaps (even if they're new plugs) coil and the wire connections to the coil, and as above battery and starter would be next places to look. Good luck getting it going. A jump start can sometimes make all the difference if you just need to get going that once.

Although isn't it obvious what the real problem is? - jealousy after your dirty weekend with those sexy 4x4s

Coil?

Try changing the coil for one of Roy's yellow coils. Not cheap but pretty much all of the 4x4s use them and they start in all conditions.

Keep us informed with your progress. I have Daffy Duck on a yellow coil with 123/EVO. It was put into the garage mid November 2008. I have only recently used it once or twice. It has been hard to start, but I put that down to old unleaded fuel, which seems to have the same flammability as water. Once it gets going it is OK, so I am just running down the fuel tank before putting in new petrol. As this is a Raid car, it gets hammered for a few months and then sits around for a long time.

The other 2CV has just had a yellow coil added. Started it yesterday. It uses Luminition ignition. I just got sick of the standard coils heating up and stopping. There were 2 spares in the boot, and I could effect a switch to another coil within the cycle of the traffic lights. Just left the spare coil lying on the shroud behind the original coil.

If the yellow (Harley) coils are no good with the 602 engine, maybe I'll add a Harley engine, give the car a bit of grunt and a mean exhaust note.
