 Re: 1-2-spark
Hi boys
just a note
i visited Geo last week
Barking mad ( loads of cars like all of us) but a very smart engineer and loads of thought gone into the new 1 2 system
had a look at 1 2 spark and am very impressed so much that i will fit several to the 4x4's and do long term tests
I will manufacture a new mounting for the sensor
A laser cut plate to allow for easier fitting of the sensor etc
and In co operation with him hope to go forwards with this project as i see it as a great improvement over previous ideas!
this gets my Best New product Award 2013!!

Sensor Bolt.
I plan to drill and tap a bolt into the (thin) Flywheel, in the same orientation as the 8 deg Static timing hole.
Question. Has anybody done this in the flywheel..... in situ?
Cheers Peter

 Re: 1-2-spark
I've done a heavy flywheel in situ - I marked the flywheel with small drill at correct point and then turned the flywheel to get at it on the bottom (more room down there). Then drilled and taped. Used thread lock and non stainless bolt.

Hi Pete, No mine was on the outside edge, I think one of our friends from Holland has done like you want on the back/front.

 Re: 1-2-spark
SubPete what we do is drill at the small side of the flywheel, because you don't need to take the flywheel out of the car....
But you can do it like your showing at the picture..... but be aware you must have space enough to place the sensor, it is a littlebit crowded where you planning the sensor (carb, inletmanifold and so on).. and be sure that when the pickup is at the sensor the engine needs to be 45 degrees before top dead centre..... (try to keep it between 45 and 42 degrees)....and it will be fine...
A second thought of mine is when you have axial play at your crankshaft the flywheel can move to far away from the sensor but then we are talking about a play of more then 0,5 mm... so keep the sensor really tide to the pickup to avoid this problem.... (I've seen crankshafts with more then 1.5rmm play) but ofcours yours hasn't..... (does it)....

 Re: 1-2-spark
Point Noted on Crankshaft end float? Will check? Thinking out loud. Aluminuim Block to hold sensor bolted to the flat area see picture Also on the other side of the engine, there is also a larger flat area on the web, above the oil filter, the barrel on that side further forward.
