Post Re: 1-2-spark
Hi Geo and forum,

I stumbled over this forum and noticed the 1-2-Spark thread and Geo was very kind to send a 1-2-Spark kit to Norway :)

Just finished the installation of 1-2-Spark in my Mehari (w/652 big bore kit). Easy installation as I have a wide flywheel so managed to use a M6 bolt and made a mounting bracket instead of welding. I've been running with 123Evo so had the plate with the vacuum connector. The engine started with the first crank and was running very well out of the box with the standard table 8-)

Engine is running better at low RPM and in general better torque over the full range. After testing flat out for half an hour I had 100+ deg oil temperature so next is to connect the advance tables switch in order to make a hot table. I've been running with 123Ignition and was about to install a Lumenition kit, but after 1-2-Spark it's no point looking back at those systems.

Anyway, v-e-r-y impressed with Geo's ignition system here!! :D :D Look forward to play with the advance tables and do some fine tuning.

Great that you like it... Have fun with it.

This is why I make this ignition, to help people who are stuck with 123 and co...
Where 123 finishes, 1-2-Spark starts........

Thanks for your post... best advertisement for 1-2-spark and I2f...

Nice sensor installation.
Maybe an idea for Geo to copy, and add to the 12spark kit.

There is no copyright here so just go ahead and put into mass production :D Let me know if you want me to get the measurement for the bracket. It's anyway easy to make this out of a piece of metall. I found it better to do it this way so it's easy to remove or move it to another engine if needed. I were planning to have some sort of an adjustment screw to get the correct distance for the sensor to the bolt head on the flywheel but I ended up with the simple solution to just bend the corner on the bracket to rest on the starter (see picture). If making a general bracket then you might want to be able to adjust the height but also left/right to support different flywheels and bolt/welded pick up.

Post Re: 1-2-spark
1-2-Spark user and forum member djr82 has done a little stroboscobe test between 1-2-Spark and 123....

I like the videos very much so I want to show them to you...

I know 1-2-spark is good, but not this good......... It is rock steady.......

I'm impressed myself 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Video of 1-2-Spark

Video of 123

p.s. 1-2-spark is tuned to 8 degrees and 29 degrees...

I reelly don't know what is happening here (at iddle) with 123 but this is the diffrence between the sensors at the camshaft (123) and the sensors at the crankcase.. (1-2-Spark)

I've send an email to 123 if they can explain the behaviour of their ignition.....

My pickup is tested at the dyno last Friday .

First we tune the 12 spark tabel and then we do 2 runs.

One with the 12 spark and one with the 123 ignition.

The 12 spark wins and give a little more power. :)

12 spark : 35,6 PK

123 ignition 35 PK

Geo i use your pictures if you dont mind they are better than mine.

I don't have a laptop, I don't really understand electronics and I don't have a pot to piss in. Will this, A; make my 2cv appreciably faster, cheaper to run and better all round? I feel I want one, but I don't know if I can justify spending actual money on an old 2cv.

Take your time Russ, I've just invited 3 companys to make me a price for assembling these little bastards for me, so theres a new wave comming up of them.....

These should go in a Visa too, so good news I believe. For Visa it is going to be a sort of plug and play then.....
For 2cv you still need to fiddle a sensorholder and pickup I don't have a simpler solution for that........
But that is the price you pay for having a rock steady ignition (as seen in the video)...

Been to Spa with the 1-2-Spark sign at my 2cv door and the 4 coils for Harley under the bonnet, so lots of attention at Spa. I think it has potential and once the first cheap are over the fence it will start to roll I believe for sure....

Just when I wanted to show things, my unit striked, so had to drive home at my points   ....... At the way home we found the problem, a sensor wire had come loose in a connecter which sits in my car to test every unit before it goes to the costumer... so yesterday I fixed it again..... but couldn't really show off in Spa..... (I think all 2cv drivers who come to Spa are potential 1-2-Spark drivers).........

This is only for testing the units, you don;t have such a connector at your kit.....

@ Harley have testdriven your coils but I am only satisfied for 99 percent probably do to
the bad wire in my connector, will drive them this week and send them then over to you, will PM you....
