What a hero Sean is :D. If that ain't the true spirit of 2CV-ing, I dunno what is.

I'm pleased you're chuffed with your car, John. As long as the major (ie: expensive) bits are ok, everything else can be taken care of over time.

I've no issue with 2CV City - I've used them only once, for a complete exhaust system, and my Charlie came with one of their galv chassis underneath; no complaints with either - but it is a little discomforting to hear that they seemingly didn't go to the effort of setting up the real basics like suspension height. I mean, how much effort does it take, especially when the benefits are so immediately obvious...

Anyways, that is still a classy-looking car

Thank you, kind sir (or possibly madam; the name doesn't give much away).

I think in some ways its a good thing to have an engine that requires a little bit of fettling, just because it gets you a bit more accustomed to the oily bits.

I kind of agree with you, I've probably learnt more about the car than I would have if there had been nothing wrong with it. A heavily disguised blessing, as it were. Having to fit an indicator repeater in the 'dashboard' certainly taught me a lot about the electrics. :geek: I now understand Citroen's idiosyncratic approach to lighting and wiring as well as I need to. Still trying to get my head around the dim/dip thing, though. (Yes Sean, I know you explained it to me, but I'm afraid it didn't stick. :? )

Speaking of Sean, I re-read my post of yesterday, and I think I undersold him a bit; he didn't just put his knowledge at my disposal, but also a considerable chunk of his weekend and several parts from his stock. In case I haven't said it enough; Thanks, Sean.

I must say, the people in the 2CV-community is something special. It is just great. You are never alone, when driving a A-modell.

A really like the color of you're car, it is the best looking color with no doubt!!

(This is mine, picture taken before it got a boot extension on "permanent basis" ;) )

it was a uk only requirement that was a bit of a mess [here] and Citroen in their own style made a mess of the wiring too.....yours has been bypassed as it heats the light switch and despite the restorer fitting a pair of lovely new relays the resistor was missing and so was inoperative.

No, it didn't occur to me to take a magnet to 2CV City. As a matter of fact, Mr 2CV City made a big point of showing me a car that had been built by one of his competitors, and how much filler had been used. Pot, kettle, black apparently. When I pluck up the courage, I'll check the car with a magnet. :(

Erm... Here's what was lurking under the 4mm. thick filler sculpture which I sorted out just over a year ago...

It's fresh in me mind because the car's back with me at the moment, after blowing oil out in a chronic fashion, due to the new piston rings having been fitted in worn grooves, thus allowing them to slop up and down...

Big thanks to Uncle Ken for pointing us in the right direction with that one.

:)

Oh dear. Bit of a mess. Have you got it sorted now?

Matter of interest, what part of the car are we looking at; I can't figure it out from the pics. :?

It's the rear number plate/light panel.
