This works.....

https://www.dropbox.com/s/w7tw449pbo5wfjs/1-2-Spark%20cd.zip

switch is easy, brown to the middle connector, 1 yellow to left 1 yellow to right. (doesn't matter what goes to where) connect unit to laptop , put on the advance page switch and you will see what table goes where..... (right upper corner)

Did some research at the (Megasquirt net) so here is the schematic of the connector of a ls1 or ls2 coil.

Attachment:
ls1 coil.jpg

Now I will work from this and see how far I get.....

p.s. do you know why they invented these coils......

Because there electronic ignition didn't work they had a lot of electronic noise.... which
caused the electronic ignition to male function...

So with shorter plugleads they minimalised the noise comming from the leads....... and hey their ignition worked.... I don't believe therse a stronger spark comming from it....

Quote:
The sweet spot for LS2 coils is 5ms...but they will work fine all the way down to 1.5ms. All tested in the video link and confirmed on other forums. Maximum dwell tested was 10ms, but there were no appreciable gains to be had over 5ms. ( Comparison of 10ms to 5ms dwell time at 10:40 in the video )

At 5ms, the LS2/Yukon coils were happily jumping a .130" gap ( that is no misprint ) at high RPM.

3ms is the default dwell on most VAG ECU's. At 3ms dwell the LS2 coils are still far, far more powerful than any VW/Audi COP coil.

AAN guys ( UR Quattro ) have been using these for years with small dwells. So have DSM, Honda etc.

I'll be interested to see what you can get out of them Geo, :ugeek:

I'm in no rush down under so take your time.

PS. WHy can't I embed YouTube video, i've tried every method under the sun! Prime example below...

Post Re: 1-2-spark
ok so today i had more problems

I had the same scenario as last time

at 57 MPH started back firing and playing about. as with last tme i had to ditch it and re conncet points again

this time it happened without thevac hose connected

it did hiccup twice on points and condenser afterwards, but didnt back fire etc

the journey back was faultless apart from a bit of pinkiing up hills (point and condenser running)

it was a 120 mile round trip

it also seemed to sort its self out after i got above 65 (i assume that it would be moving onto the next box and using a dfferent reading.

i didnt have a co pilot or the laptop so couldnt see if i could rescue the situation, but it was the same scenarrio....
last time i just tried burning geo's table from his car which didnt work

it seems that it doesnt like being at 57-65 ish, whatever rev range that is,
could it be a weak / dieing coil?
vac hose was free to breath in open air...

so in a nutshell

iit does it57-65 mph
last time i couldnt rescue by advancing or retarding
disconnecting the vac hose hasnt helped

no idea what is the matter

Post Re: 1-2-spark
60 mph is about 5000 rpm, please check your dwell at 4000 rpm, 5000 rpm and 6000 rpm,
put 4000 in those boxes and burn it (even if it says so already)

look if the sparkduration is at about 1500 and burn it (even if it says so)

It can be possible that your coil is at the end of its life, but I don't think so...

If you can't get it running properly, feel free to send it back to me and I will check it...
repair it (if it needs repair) and send it back....

It should run properly, so something must be wrong...

When standing still and reving the engine, does it tick over then??? or only when driving???

Check the Ceramic insulator on the sparkplug diode isn't cracked/broken. ...
I had the same intermittent problems in a 504 pug, took me ages to find the problem.
