The post below is a bit uncalled for Peter. Have to say it makes me less and less inclined to be involved. Or is that the intention?

Not my intentions at all Paul, I welcome whatever people are saying including someone having a go at me. I doesn't bother me. I've said what I believe, surely Ken and others will dismiss it, hey that's life. I won't ever hide behind bullshit, I'll speak my mind maybe not very diplomatic at times.

Relax Ken, it appears to me that if anybody dare not agreeing with you, you get very upset. Nobody is having an attack on your business; I don’t think for minute that it would have any impacted whatsoever if someone did. Sorry for being upfront but I think you see yourself as the victim if somebody question your posts. I do respect your knowledge a lot but not the way you go about it. If a sub forum about how to fix this and that is a goer, you may feel pushed aside but that it not the point whatsoever. I would welcome your input at all times but I’m sure you understand that an open forum is simply not possible due to disagreements just like this subject is being turned inside out. I admit that I do mistakes, we all do including you but hey we are not robots, just passionate A model enthusiast wanting to share and help. What about something like constructive criticism from your court, I sure you got plenty on offer if you could pull out of your grumpy old man syndrome. I say this with a smile on, if you take it any other way, I’m sorry. If you don’t want to be part of it, no worries, it may not be for you. I shall rest this case for now and wait for the final say from the owners.
Cheers
Viking

There is already a forum on how to fix 2CVs and I'm pretty sure it isn't far from here at all. I for one have never had the impression that Ken sees himself as a victim, perhaps a little frustrated at getting drawn into ridiculous arguments about flexible chassis, but never as a victim.

There is an enormous width breadth of experience on this forum, people who run one of the largest and most successful parts supply businesses, people who build chassis for a living, people who teach newcomers to 2CV ownership maintenance, people who weld for a living, gifted amateurs, total beginners, people who can spell, people who can weave a tall tale, people who entertain, long-time owners and new owners, people who race, people who like to dawdle along on a sunny day, people who cross continents and those who pootle off to the shops for the Sunday paper.

Despite all that experience I doubt that there are many among those who would claim to be the fount of all knowledge.

Put simply I think you would benefit from taking note and learning from the knowledge that this forum indubitably is able to access at least as much as others will benefit from you giving out the knowledge you've built up.

There isn't any politics in my post. The simple fact is that having one person write a series of guides on which no one is allowed to comment is ridiculous.

I agree, 250.

I personally think there should be the opportunity for others to add to 'how to' threads. Hence my comment on page 1 of this thread "Once a helpful thread like that is posted, I also don't see any problem with others adding their tips to subsequent posts; "if this bit is hard to remove, you can try..." type stuff. It's all good reading and all helpful."

And my subsequent-to-your-post comment "And I've always understood that Haynes actively welcomes corrections from their readers..."

My use of the word 'politics' referred to what I took as a quite personal attack by you on Viking - neither of whom I know other than by their posts on here.

I thought it was out of order.

Post Re: 2CV school
Here's a funny thought. Earlier this week somebody rang me up and basically told me this website was brilliant and was one of the most useful sites he'd come across etc etc. It was one of the first times I've felt proud of it actually. Should have known better than to feel like that, as it's only taken a couple of days and one thread to make me feel it's a waste of everybodys f@cling time. Reading this makes me wonder why we bother paying for it actually. I'm half tempted to lock the entire forum for a couple of weeks until the four of us can figure out how to deal with this kind of senseless infighting.

Look at the big picture. I'm ashamed. Thanks.

Genuinely sorry it's upset you, Russell.

I hope you won't shut it down for two reasons; (1) me and t'others benefit from it and enjoy it very much (that's the purely selfish reason in case you didn't notice!), and (2) I think you'd upset yourself even further by taking that step.

I hope you can look through this thread and realise that very few users are being antagonistic; the VAST majority are hugely grateful & completely appreciative of what they have here, and are trying their best to contribute to its success.

The 'others' probably wish to do so too, but are possibly just putting their points too strongly?

I wouldn't regret it, believe me!

Your last point hits the nail on the head really. I've no idea where this attitude can be coming from, when it's basically an idea on the theme of helping people out. For free.

Long live the 2cving spirit. Wherever it is...

Dear Russell and all

I am guilty as charged but it is no more different than watching the British parliament or any other committee, 2cv club or sports club, you name it.
No hard feelings from my point whatsoever, should others think ill of me, no worries. I’m sure we make up one day somewhere along the line. At the end of the day, this forum is a great place with a very high success rate if you can put it that way. As such there is nothing wrong with in fights as you call it, just look in the sandpit. It will happen again and again even if you ban people someone will put the nose forward and get a wack, such is life.
Don’t worry Russell, it’ll die off soon. When ready lets us know your decision. Again no worries from me should you decide not to create a this new category.
Cheers

Post Re: 2CV school
i feel im butting in a bit, but, the suggestion of chassis and flex was mearly a suggestion for a topic, an example, not saying it needs to be discussed, a suggestion, which i was for of viking being the one to do the topics, was only also a suggestion, its got a bit uptight in here, maily due to suggestions, personally i think the 2cv school idea is great. Someone needs to be incharge, and the suggestion was viking. This doesnt mean to say that he is going to be writing all the posts, simply moderating them. i think people got the wrong idea of that suggestion maybe? just cos a bastard is in charge of it, doesnt mean you cant do one, surely?
From my point of view, the 4 behind this website should be proud of it, and the users in it, however out of hand we all get sometimes, we all do it at some point,
so what do i think is next? maybe we should all apollogise to each other, as biccuring is going to destroy this golden dust of a forum, and we are the only ones who will loose out, sorta pissing into the wind, shooting your own team down type thing. we all knock (well the experts on here) all knock there heads together to help each other, and damsels in destress, you always come up with a solution, so why all fall out over a bit of silly biccuring??

i accept any critism for posting this,
and apollogise if ive provoked this in any way,

james
