 Re: changing the loom over
The other coil wire goes down to the points box (as I said ). It's not part of the loom and you should be able to use the one that was already on your car. Spade connector one end, barrel connector t'other and it goes through the hole in the front of the fan cowling, to the right of the fan as you look at it.

 Re: changing the loom over
next problem :( when the power is on, the rear left number plate light is permeantly on, so ive looked at wires, had a play round, and it seems one of the connectros is permantly live, and ive no idea which one it goes to as its not got an original connection on, so ive no idea which colour its meant for, ive matched all the others up, and gone by process of elimination, any ideas?

 Re: changing the loom over
One of the connections that joins the rear loom at the top of the bulkhead is permanently live, I think from memory that it's a black one, it's for the interior light. Top tip alert! It can be a useful way of 'bodging' one of the tail lights back on if you've blown the fuse and don't have a spare, but remember to disconnect it at the end of the journey.

 Re: changing the loom over
well the live ones got an aftermarket standard blue crimped connection on it, so its not black, whichdoesnt help, but it would explain it, as i cant find one for the interior light!

 Re: changing the loom over
I changed the interior light connection because the old one was all corroded to buggery. It still didn't work, but the wire was live at the bulkhead.

 Re: changing the loom over
well well well
after a bit of tinkering, and swearing, ive got the hazards working, and everything else, the only one thing that isnt working is the test light for the brake fluid, everything else,,,, WORKS!!!!
she starts runs, idles, does everything correctly, i had a nightmare and a fight with the rear lighting etc, but i wont the battle"!!!
so no dim dip now, i now need to send the dim dip bits to hell!!!
so in conclusion, was it easy, well, not really, how did i best achieve it? i decided to lay the loom on the car, next to the old loom, and then as i unplugged things plugged new ones in.. i started at voltage regulator, and worked forwarsd, then worked backwards. i then convinced the wires to go through the bulkhead, and then just after doing so put my loom through bulkead, how did i achieve this so easily? i taped up all the new wires and pusehd them through, doddle!!
i then un plugged more things as i plugged thjigns in, this was a nightmare, but really helped, i did also have my diagrams just incase, and boy the where helpful at one point!! so all in all, a success, for once! so what do you need to do this job? patience, a good variety of swear words, and shit loasd of electrical tape!!!
