Wiring and connections to the fog lamp always needs cleaning every year. I expect if you take the lens off it will all be rusty inside.

Oh and if it's got two fuse boxes it's a 1986 or later car. Forget about the alleged chassis date it won't help in sourcing parts.

Fits in with the engine number too.

It won't have a blue main beam indicator on the dash as standard only as an extra ( unless it's German I think). But the wiring will probably be there in any event.

Oh, and they like revs. The orange markers under the speed numbers are the top change up points for second, third and fourth. Ie 30, 60, 90 km/h. Say 15, 35 and 55mph- no synchro on first so only use it from a dead stop after nudging it into 2nd before hand as Ken said.
I did get 65 in third out of mine once, but only as I was lapping the banked track at Montlhery and I was concentrating on not falling off!

Out of curiousity, does the car have a four digit number on the bulkhead (firewall), under the bonnet (hood) on the top left hand side (when stood in front of the car looking at it)? If so, then that is the RP Number, which is the factory code for the build date. It'll at least tell you when the original car was built, even if it's probably of no relevence now.

Is this what your talking about? This is the only plate I can find under the bonnet. Someone told me there was a plate under the seat on the floorboard but I haven't found it yet.

bumper overriders are missing too.

Now I know what those holes are for in the front bumper. I thought they may have been from auxiliary or fog lamps since there is an added on switch under the dash that is not hooked up.

For some reason the rear bumper is painted white and the front bumper is painted a silver hammer tone finish.

My assumption is the bumpers should be silver hammer tone unless they were original chrome. Well at least that's what I am going to repaint the rear bumper with...

charlestons had metallic silver bumpers the others models gray ones. The switch under the dash might have been of a heated rear window.

This is what you need to find, if it hasn't been painted over. The letters are the paint code, the AM 86 is the model year, so that's Sept 1985 to July 1986, and the 3363 is the build date number, which translates as 23rd January 1986.
