Probably the pads have got oil on them too - whilst the discs can be cleaned, the pads will tend to absorb the oil - may have to change them I'm afraid...

I think you're right. I left the cap off and soaked the engine bay totally, a year or two ago. The brake pads survived that, (brakes were barely working at first!) but I pressure washed the brakes with a very hot washer and hadn't driven so far. Pretty sure 250 miles will have done it this time though, lol.

I should stop the oil leak first really.

I spent an hour or so fiddling with the leaking pushrod seal today, and (I think) success! I cleaned it all off well and observed it each time, leaking quite heavily at times depending on how I fiddled with it, eventually I poked the cup around enough and moved the spring around a bit, and it's pretty much done the trick. It's almost as if a slightly stronger spring would help.
The seal on the other tube is not leaking at all.

I've only driven a few miles but the sump is still bone dry. Yay..

Thanks. I see a set of brake pads in my near future now, lol. Brake cleaner isn't gonna save em this time I don't think.
Very happy it's hopefully sorted now though.

Must find the time to take a good look at the pushrod seals on the engine of my 2CV. Still has a massive leak, but been very busy recently.

Jonathan, is it not getting all over the brakes? I only noticed because it suddenly developed a massive pull to the left. Motorway use was what blew it over the brakes though, actually.

Has covered everything everywhere under the bonnet. Very annoying really. No sign of oil leaking when engine not running. Pisses out when running. Not getting any use because of the issue.

Yeah once I went fast enough in the wind, the leak was enough to just get some on the flywheel. And from there, everywhere else..

Still not a drip to be seen on the sump, and I've been to Newbury and back on the M4. Very pleased.
