Bearings in now for retaining nut.... V start to thread is a tad damaged in places........ I may be able to rescue with a needle file but is there any other magic tricks ..? This is boring now

Re: Front Wheel Bearing metric thread is 60* so a triangular file fits and cuts the correct profile. if its the internal thread in the housing "rake" it with a tap of the same pitch if you gety it just right it will cut the burrs.

So nut does up (took maybe 5 hours to get it on) and goes v tight (flush with the arm) but theres a small amount of movement in the hub (which is in the bearing) which is in and out
Ive not missed anything, but it just seems rediculous and stupid, what have i done (apart from made the mistake of doing this myself....)

Re: Front Wheel Bearing yes the hub nut! you need the C_V joint and the nut done up tight to clamp it up or the bearing centre is loose.

Did both up with breaker bar ......

Re: Front Wheel Bearing James, the driveshaft nut needs to be tightened to much the same torque as the bearing retaining nut, around 250 lb.ft./35 kg.m with greased threads. Don't overtighten the wheel nuts or you will ruin them; 30 lb.ft./ 4 kg.m is enough... Jameswallace wrote: All done up tight (inc hubnut) and the wheel flaps about all over the place
