NO! the gas shroud on the torch you still need eye and skin protection more so as it spatters and spits so cover everything you dont want holes burnt in with old floor mats.

yes , i didnt mean a mask that you use for eye protection, i meant, as u say the mask on the torch
i got arc eye a long time ago-- never again!

But does it? Have you ever cut one of your welds open, to check that it's properly penetrated, and that there's no bubbliness/inclusions/shite inside?

Yes it does. Don't need to. Just image the numbers of raid cars I've welded in Australia and from what I know, none of them has fallen apart (soon 15 years) despite doing 10 million corrugations each raid. That is prof enough for me that it works

Yeah, one day people might have to do a second rate job, thankfully today they don't have to struggle with the bullshit because they can buy the correct gear for the job.

Nobody who considers themselves a professional should reccomend this shit, any more than fuel cats, ecotek valves, splitfire plugs or snake oil. It is not a process for amateurs who don't fully understand, regardless of how lucky they've been.

Post Re: mig wire "gas free?
I have to add my thoughts here, just because i have some experience of both gas and non gas welding. I am not a pro welder like Russ and i dont play with cars for a living, its a hobby, but this is what i have concluded. So, this is not advice, its just my own experience...

I originally (when i was 17 years old) used a gas-less SIP brand mig to weld up my dyane and a couple of other cars. Later when i became a bit richer and wiser i bought a decent snap-on/cebora MIG welder.

The results and the ease of use were like night and day, The spatter was less, the penentration was better, it was easier not to blow holes, it was visibly nicer, the wire didnt cost the earth in comparison to normal wire and a gas bottle.

I welded gasless for maybe 2 years, ive welded with proper gas MIG for 16 years now.
Simply put, for me... gas-less is a get you by measure. If you have the choice then always go for proper equipment and get a proper job at the end of it.

Yes it does. Don't need to.

Might it be interesting to do so?
