Post Re: Towing a 2CV
I was towed by the AA using this method once, the only trouble was their A-frame didn't have a bend in it so it banged on the bumper going over bumps. I quite like it as a method of towing.

Post Re: Towing a 2CV
As I've already posted I've a friend in our village who has just returned from UK towing his 'A' series that has an extended chassis due to the GS engine, plus a replacement Peugeot 206 engine in the back of the towed car,all on an A frame with no problems. He has towed another f is 2cv's with a 2cv back from UK to SW France also without incident. I would suggest that ensuring your fixation points are done tight and correct.I to would like to know about near accidents :-)

Have used a "2cvcity" strap-on A frame on many years/occasions/miles, with no issues.

However ....have lent it out a number of times.

1. Downhill on a very tight hairpin in Langdale, The towed car tried to steer the rear end of the towing car.
A very near miss.

2. After many kms in France I think the tow hitch bolts on the frame became loose.
A very near miss.

Just be very careful with ..... tight bends.....roundabouts and downhill.

ps I think its be said before ---- Check you driving licence and insurance.

Post Re: Towing a 2CV
I can only confirm I use such a tool as well.....

Don't tow another 2cv with a 2cv, they are to light when braking hard the towed car will push the towing 2cv (In my case an AMI 8 service) aside.... My ami made a 180 degrees turn and damaged 2cv frontwing and amiservice rearwing.

Don't drive backwards (you can't anyway) the sterringwheel shares to 1 side at once blocking everything.

Don't make small turnes, when the towed car hits the steering stop and you will still make a nearower turn disaster will strike.... Both cars will get into a woble the only thing which helps is to stop and go....

b.t.w. in Holland it is allowed when both cars have MOT and Insurance......

Hire a trailer. It seems like a lot less bother.

ipgo,
this highlights another example of the twisted logic often used by our pen-pushers.

In the UK, the weight of the vehicle being towed is deemed to be its Gross vehicle weight, not its kerb weight.
That makes a towed 2CV 930kg, instead of 585kg.
You've got to wonder just how likely it is that someone is going to tow a car with 4 people on board, plus their luggage.
