 Re: Engine,
all looks good to me james by connecting to the battery then you just shift the sparks elswhere! hook the starter to the battery with the big wire then run another wire from the +ve and flash that to the solenoids small terminal(the bean can that piggybacks the motor)
its surprisingly stable when running but thats due to the good design of the engine- well balanced
ok off to arrange the tables in the street and look out my hat....

thoughts? I think it comes down to whether you can weld... But as far as I know you don't need to do any of that. Email Will on the forum he has a dyane cowling on his and he has a normal light bar. I *think* you just need some clever pipe work. There's a french chap sells conversion kits and I don't remember you needing to cut anything. and pull starters are the way forward. None of this solenoid electromagictry to go wrong.

 Re: Engine,
No, old 2cvs and amis and stuff have a cable that looks a bit like a choke that is connected to the starter, instead of using a solenoid.

Thinking about mounting one in the pick-up too when the current starter dies. The one on my D*lly's intermittent - fine for weeks on end, then suddenly you have to whack the solenoid to get it going. I've got a dud 12 volt pull starter so Im going to take it apart and see what's wring. If I get it working I'll stick it in, I love them! They're just so satisfying!

 Re: Engine,
If you'd come with us at the weekend you'd have found them easy to come by, Sam practically tripped over that one and resisted all of my pleas to chuck it in the pikey van! (this is the same reason we had to cart home a dyane bumper and a broken 60s grille)
